Auslan - Languages
Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is the language of the Deaf community of Australia and is visual-gestural in nature. The language program is delivered with the aim of promoting inclusiveness, celebrating diversity, and exploring self-identity. Students learn through a variety of songs, games, activities, discussions, and a whole lot of fun!
In 2024, our Preps, Year 1 and Year 2 students will be participating in Auslan classes once a week during Semester 1. Our Grade 3-6 students will continue their Auslan journey in Semester 2 of 2024.
Students are exposed to Deaf culture and basic sign language skills, including a variety of vocabulary and the grammar structures of the language. This includes the following topics - click on links to watch our students in action:
